Elevator dispatching Print E-mail

Elevator facilities of the city. Current state of lift dispatching control.

I.  Physical layer.

One of the main disadvantages of the existing lift dispatching system are open wire lines between lift facilities (residential buildings, office buildings, etc.) and dispatching centres serving them. These lines may be affected by external factors such as ...

1. Weather conditions:

  • Thunderstorm
  • Stormy wind
  • Wires frosting

In addition, such atmospheric phenomenon as a storm, can not only break the line of communication with objects, but to result in physical destruction of electronic equipment of the dispatching system ... Due to the fact that the objects of the lift monitoring system are connected into a sequential chain, breakdown of the line with a single object can lead to the loss of connection with all subsequent ones...

Weather conditions and Monitoring and dispatching system.

2. Human Impact:

Another external factor affecting the efficiency of dispatching systems, is the impact of a man. Insecurity of cable lines and the absence of alarm and warning systems contributes to burglary or simply hooliganism.

Human Impact and Monitoring and dispatching system.

II. Physical layer.

Another disadvantage of the open wirelines is limitation of maximum reach due to the mass of the cable, signal attenuation in conductors and the influence of electromagnetic interference. Also, a finite quantity of individual conductors in a cable causes the restriction of data transfer volumes, which results in limited opportunities for the dispatching system as a whole.

III. Equipment specifications

The use of obsolete equipment does not allow to change or expand the existing dispatching system. Many dispatching points perform only part of their functions, or do not function at all. Ancient houses often lack any possibility to be connected to the existing dispatching system because of electronic equipment incompatibility. Therefore, these houses still remain cut off from the common system.

IV. Overall structure analysis of the system

Each dispatching centre is a finite point for automatic delivery of operational performance data from elevators. The central dispatching office receives reports about the status of all systems by means of dispatchers’ telephone reports. This affects the efficiency, reliability and integrity of gathered information as a whole. The absence of a dispatcher by any reason at his workplace means a total suspension of dispatching work ...

Overall structure analysis of the system

Application of state-of-the-art technology for lift monitoring system of the city.

I. The overall structure of the elevator dispatching system

All the necessary information from lift control cabinets is collected by special devices BML (Lift Monitoring Unit). They realize the control of necessary lift equipment points. Information received with the device of GSM / GPRS-modem is transmitted through the mobile network operator and Internet provider to the Internet server of the central dispatching office and further, via local computer network to personal computers of the operators on duty. Operational information is recorded and stored on the main server, and simultaneously transmitted and displayed on all the monitors of operators…

II. Main advantages of the new lift dispatching system

1. Technical:

- Electronic monitoring devices are located within a lift motor room protected by them, thus preventing theft of equipment while absence of external communication cables protects against all weather conditions and atmospheric phenomena ...
Technical advantages of the new lift dispatching system

- No geographical restrictions. Any building of the city located in the coverage area of any mobile operator can be connected to the overall monitoring system. The distance between the objects of monitoring does not matter. Also, all ancient buildings which are not monitored now can be connected to the new dispatching system.

Technical advantages of the new lift dispatching system

2. Economic:

- The new lift monitoring system needs only one single control centre. Thus there is no need to keep a large quantity of district monitoring points as well a big staff of operators.

3. Informational:

- Automatic gathering and processing operational information non-stop allows to receive a reliable picture of the lift equipment status.

- Simultaneous access of operators to the operational information increases performance reliability of all the monitoring system.

- Common database of monitoring service allows residents of the city to receive information about the technical state of elevator equipment via the Internet.

Informational advantages of the new lift dispatching system

City utilities  dispatching and monitoring system.

After the introduction of a new monitoring and dispatching system all the buildings of the city turn out to be connected to a single information network through which data of any volume and content can be transferred. The structure of system electronic equipment combined with advanced technology of data collection and transfer makes a new monitoring system so flexible that at any time and at any stage of usage it may be joined up with additional modules for collecting, processing, storage and transmission of different information, as well as with modules for controlling any utilities units according to Customer’s desires…

As an example, the following units and components can be connected to the common monitoring and dispatching system of city utilities:

1.    Electrical and mechanical meters:

  • Heat
  • Electricity
  • Gas Consumption
  • Cold and hot water flow rate

2. Electrical and mechanical sensors:

  • Gas and liquid pressures in manifolds
  • Air and water temperatures
  • The presence of combustible gases in the air

3.   Fire and security alarm

4. Voice communication with a dispatcher and emergency services ...
